We recently had the pleasure of renovating and modernizing this home in Montreal, Quebec.
Having typical concrete floors, the owners felt the floors became very cold during the winter months.
The layout was also very closed off and gave the home a dated look and feel. The kitchen was also outdated, making this almost a complete remodel of this roughly 1000 sq ft home.
The transformation of this living space was truly amazing, and we are excited to share the details of this project with you!

New Modern Open Floor Plan
One of the most significant changes we made was to the layout of the condo.
The old design felt cramped and outdated, so we decided to create a more modern and open floor plan.
We removed several walls and reconfigured the space to create a seamless flow between the living room, dining room, and kitchen areas. Not only does this make the space feel more spacious, but it also allows for better natural light and a more welcoming atmosphere overall.

Full Kitchen Remodel with Custom Cabinets
The kitchen is always a focal point in any home, and this one was no different.
The current kitchen area was outdated, and now was the perfect time to not only modernize it, but also re-imagine the space to integrate storage and other conveniences.
The kitchen was completely remodeled, with new custom cabinets, countertops, fixtures and appliances chosen and provided by the client.
We worked closely with the client to design a kitchen that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
The new cabinets provide ample storage space, while the granite countertops add a touch of elegance. We also installed new appliances, including a fridge, stove, and dishwasher, to make cooking and cleaning more efficient.
Other amenities we added are under cabinet lighting for better lighting of work surfaces, as well as a pot filler over the stove, to make filling them easier and more convenient.

One of the initial complaints the homeowners had, was that the tile floors got extremely cold during the winter months. With a concrete base for the floor throughout the home, and the fact that heat rises, the homeowners had difficulties keeping the floors at a comfortable temperature.
Our solution was to install a beautiful new tile floor, using the Schluter Ditra Heated Flooring System.
This heated flooring solution integrates electric floor warming, waterproofing and vapor management, in a long-lasting durable product. A key piece of this electric heated flooring system is the patented under padding that creates a thermal break between the flooring and the underlying concrete, greatly increasing the insulation factor, and almost eliminating any heat loss between the interior and the concrete.
Not only does the new flooring system add a touch of luxury to the home, it also greatly increases the homeowner’s comfort levels during the cold Montreal winters.

The countertops not only look great but are also very durable and easy to maintain, and with the new open layout, greatly increased the amount of counter space throughout the kitchen.
We worked with the client to choose a color and pattern that would complement the overall design of the space.

Upgrade to Energy Efficient LED Lighting
Finally, we upgraded the lighting in many areas of the home to new energy efficient LED lighting with dimmers. Not only do the LEDs add a a modern touch but they also provide better lighting throughout the space as well as increased energy efficiency.
The addition of the dimmers to the LED lighting installation allows the client to adjust the lighting to their exact desired level of brightness at all times.
Overall, we are extremely proud of the work we did on this Montreal area home renovation project and frankly, we think the results speak for themselves.
Not only is the home more beautiful and modern, it is also more comfortable, functional and energy efficient.
